West wants a Muslim, Sinhala clash

West wants a Muslim, Sinhala clash admin By admin April 26, 2014 17:06 West wants a Muslim, Sinhala clash wimal_weerawansaA clash between Muslims and Sinhalese in Sri Lanka is what Western countries want to see, Government Minister and National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa said. Weerawansa also claimed that if such a clash takes place then Tamil extremist groups will join hands with the Muslims and push the country towards another war. The Minister said that a situation could also arise where Sri Lanka loses the support of Middle Eastern countries if Muslims and Sinhalese communities clash. Most Middle Eastern countries have been supportive of Sri Lanka, particularly at the UN Human Rights Council. He said that while it is natural for there to be differences of opinion between two groups, those differences should not be resolved physically but by using the brain. “What most people cannot do to our country from outside will be done by the foolish acts of the people from within our own country,” he said. The Minister also said that the media has a role to play by ensuring it works towards reconciliation among the people and not divisions.
